Leo really marks a turning point in the story of ‘Oronsay'. Our life long love has been Tri colour Cavaliers (in fact they were the only colour we owned in the UK) so Mum (Dianne) headed off to Melbourne in June 2003 for the biggest Cavalier show of the year, hoping to find that perfect Tri, be it a boy or a girl..
She was lucky enough to meet Wendy Weaver from SA, who had this lovely little puppy who she may consider letting us love, but we tried not to get our hopes up! Once home we saw pictures of Leo for the first time and fell in love - We couldn't believe there was someone out there who would let us have such a lovely Tri puppy. Our now good friends, Ann & Chris Beare owned the sire of this little bundle and they also had to agree that we were suitable owners! To our eternal fortune, all of the girls thought we would be good ‘parents' and Leo flew up to Qld a few weeks later…
He made a big impact in the ring from day 1, winning Baby In Show at the Qld Specialty under breed specialist Anne Dobie, on his first outing, and achieving multiple classes in Group before 12 months of age. He has a wonderful head shape, soft expression and is a lovely size too and his qualities should be recognised by those who know and understand the breed. Sadly Leo's biggest fault has always been his lack of coat and so at only 31/2, Leo is now retired from the show ring. Although disappointing, we are blessed that he seems to be able to pass on his lovely qualities to his children.
We have long dreamed of breeding lovely, well marked tri colours and from Leo's first litter came our own beautiful girl Bella (see Girls), who has livied up to our expectations. After following in Dad's footsteps by winning 'Baby In Show' at the 2005 Qld Specialty, Bella has also won Best Tri Colour at both of the Qld Specialty shows in July 2006, and at the Canberra Specialty in Nov 2006 all three wins under UK breed specialist judges. Her brother Oronsay Murphy's Law (Murphy) is shown by Clair Sutton in Mackay, he is currently well on his way to his title also.
Leo's second litter was bred by Carol Yates (Kahleyvale). Carol has kept 2 girls from this litter (Rogue & Mystique) and they are each doing well in the ring. Thier sister Tilly has so far proven to be the star of the litter however, and in October 2006 she attained her Championship title at only 13 months old. Tilly is shown by new exhibitors Michael & Cherrie Wilkins, and she has been a dream start to their life in the show ring, winning multiple classes in group in Baby, Minor and Puppy age groups on her way to her title.

Leo's critique from Anne Dobie read……
“Well marked tricolour baby of 3 months, the loveliest clearly marked head with dark eyes, gentle expression and good pigmentation. He has a lovely shaped neck that sits in well placed shoulders, well marked coat on a correctly made body, good bone and he moved well. I hope he continues on well. He has that ex factor…. Wish he was mine!”
